SUMMARY:  WinTec Arrowmaker, Inc. is a defense contractor dedicated to providing outstanding program management, engineering, logistics, and operations support to Department of Defense customers.  The Android Software Developer creates software designed for military research and development work, specifically for the Android OS.  The incumbent is responsible for supporting a variety of software development projects to include prototype software or proof of concepts systems typically requiring rapid development.  This full-time, exempt position is located in Tampa, FL.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:   (*Essential Duties)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing software development support (design, development, integration, testing, and documentation) such as creating, maintaining, and upgrading Geospatial Information System engines, authoring Unmanned Vehicle System (UVS) software, and scripting custom-tailored video systems and 3D graphical gaming engines.*
  • Coding User Interfaces (UI) on an Android OS; developing software plug-ins that operate within a GIS moving map interface as well as software that operates and interfaces with Unmanned Vehicles; working with Department of Defense messaging standards; coordinating the installation of software systems as needed.*
  • Consulting with military operators, hardware engineers, and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational/performance requirements of overall system.*
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a minimum of four (4) years’ relevant work experience; equivalent training or experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Experience with Android OS (Version 4.0 and above), Java OO designs, the software development cycle, and related processes; understanding of TCP/IP, serial communications, and network protocols.
  • Advanced math skills and keen understanding of the laws and principles of physics.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments, shifting program requirements, and new challenges.
  • Detailed understanding of current and future technology trends.
  • Ability to follow through on projects to completion.
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Former Military service or experience desired.

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Travel is required (20%) as all as some weekend and off-hours support.
