SUMMARY:  WinTec Arrowmaker, Inc. is a defense contractor dedicated to providing outstanding program management, engineering, logistics, and operations support to Department of Defense customers.  The Mission Rehearsal Training Landing Zone Controller provides specialized training of combat-ready SOF in support of covert, clandestine, and contingency operations with SOF mobility, ISR, and Strike as part of a Mission Rehearsal Training Team.  Training sites include, but are not limited to, dirt landing zones, military installations, and commercial and/or municipal airports.  Supported aircraft includes PC-12, C-145, C-146, MC-130, and CV-22 tilt-rotor aircraft.  This full-time position is located at Hurlburt Field, FL and is contingent upon government review.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:   (*Essential Duties)
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Providing air traffic control (ATC) per AFI 13-217 Drop Zone and Landing Zone Operations guidelines and FAA JO 7110.XX policy requirements.*
  • Marking the landing zone in the appropriate Airfield Marking Pattern (AMP); ensuring the proper frequency is entered/set and is in the correct position/alignment when electronic navigational aids (NAVAIDS) are used.*
  • Providing marshalling services for parking and movement of aircraft in accordance with AFI 11-218 Aircraft Operation and Movement on the Ground, Chapter 2.*
  • Ensuring vehicle and/or pedestrian control measures are in place as required by ATC standards.*
  • Operating a variety of transportation modes to arrive at these locations, including all-terrain vehicles, high mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles, and motorcycles.*
  • Conducting landing zone usability assessments; scoring procedures and surveys in accordance with AFI 13-217, Chapters 2 and 3.*
  • Assembling, operating, and monitoring all radios.*
  • Operating a wide range of specialized equipment, weapons, and vehicles to include, but not limited to, laser pointers, UHF/VHF/FM/HF/SATCOM radios, current Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, overt/covert lights and marking devices and pyrotechnics.*
  • Conducting weather observations in accordance with FAA JO 7110.65, Chapter 2, Sections 6 and 7.*
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Air Force Specialty Code 1C2X1, P273X0, P272X0D or equivalent in the performance of LZ duties as outlined in AFI 13-217, Chapters 2 and 3.
  • Successful completion of a Department of Defense, Department of Transportation ATC course or a USAF Combat Control Operator Course. A prior (or current) ATC Tower certification is highly desired.
  • Familiar and proficient with all assigned radios, attachments, and accessories.
  • Able to operate radios in secure mode with Communications Security (COMSEC).
  • Must have fundamental land navigation/map, compass, and GPS skills sufficient enough to read and locate using latitude and longitude and Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)/Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) coordinates, boundaries, points of origin, point of impact, impact/strike points and other locations during all training missions.
  • Familiar with military command and control structures, working knowledge of the organizational interface of military, federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Must possess a valid civilian driver’s license and be able to hold a valid military driver’s license for the military vehicle(s) to be operated.
  • Able to use, operate, and control simulated IEDs, smoke grenades, ground burst simulators blank ammunition, and other training pyrotechnics as required in the execution of all OPFOR-related activities.
  • Must have a valid/current FAA Class II flight physical issued under 14 CFR 67 or equivalent medical standards and be able to maintain this requirement while performing under this contract.
  • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid AF Form 483 Certificate of Competency for explosive transportation qualification and other documents for the use of explosives.
  • Able to marshal aircraft in accordance with AFI 11-218, Chapter 2.
  • Must complete the approved AFSOC LZSO training, all required local orientation, and be certified by letter signed by the 1 SOG/CC within 30 calendar days of starting.
  • Prior or current ATC Tower certification is highly desired.

  • Must possess a current Secret Clearance.
