SUMMARY: WinTec Arrowmaker, Inc. is a defense contractor dedicated to providing outstanding program management and operations support to Department of Defense customers. The UNIX System Administrator position will support the 363d ISRW and subordinate units with the right subject matter expertise for Core Function Capability Development.
 
SECURITY CLEARANCE: CURRENT TS/SCI

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct system/software installation, configuration and testing, as well as security documentation.
  • Responsible for routine operations, backup and maintenance of servers, workstations, NAS devices, and databases in a production environment.
  • Troubleshoot, test network and hardware components, and evaluate software products.
  • Ability to handle daily system administration issues as well as full-scale crash recovery situations.
  • Expected to interact and verbally communicate with customers, vendors and upper management.
  • Create and maintain user accounts for various UNIX based applications on the UNIX server.
 LOCATION:  Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in a technical discipline or an equivalent 6 years hands-on system administration experience.
  • Experienced Unix/Windows administrator.
  • Must have experience working in a change-controlled environment along with a solid understanding of the Sun Solaris and Windows operating systems.
  • Experienced System Administration to a Sun Solaris/MS Windows 2008/2012 client/server GigE network.
  • Experience in managing technology in a production environment including performance tuning, monitoring, security, patch/software installation and backups are a must.
 Other required skills include:
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain computer/software inventory list and determine user requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely without assistance is critical.
  • Knowledgeable of DOD information security practices, procedures, and documentation.
  • Extensive hands on administrative experience with Sun Solaris/Windows in a client/server environment and Air Force network security and lockdowns.
  • Familiarity with NetApps Filers, Symantec NetBackup, Oracle 9i/10g, Microsoft SQL, RAID, NIS, LDAP, and GigE/Ethernet are desired.
  • Commercial Imagery/GIS experienced highly desired but not required.
  • The candidate will be capable of working full time, 1st shift, Monday through Friday and occasional late nights and weekends when required.
  • Must have working knowledge of the organizational interface of military, federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Must be capable of working independently with little guidance or in a small team environment.
  • Self-assess weaknesses and correct through self-study and personally motivated exploration.
  • Ability to respond quickly to rapid changes and accepts new challenges.
  • Personable, professional, ethical and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Be familiar with military command and control structures.
